Tips to Reduce Stress Blog Post (1)

Get rid of stress before it gets the best of you.

Stress can sneak up in any area of our life. From deadlines at work to managing your children’s summer break schedules and just everyday life, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. It can be hard not to let stressful feelings or circumstances get the best of you.

Practice some of these tips and tricks to enjoy self-care time and reduce some of those overwhelming or frustrating feelings.

Walk it Out!

Did you know that physical activity can reduce stress and recharge your brain? With all the nice weather this season brings, spend some time in the morning or evening—or both—outside on a walk. It’s a great way to boost your mood and get some sunshine!

Sleep it Off!

Is some of your stress due to being anxious and exhausted from lack of sleep? While our busy calendars don’t always allow s, try to schedule some rest time for yourself.

Seriously, add it as an event in your calendar. Jot it down as a reminder in your day planner! If you don’t have a lunch break or any openings of time to rest your eyes during the day, make it a point to try to go to bed a little earlier at night than usual.

Write it Down!

Most people probably didn’t carry the habit of having a diary into adulthood, but it’s never too late to bring it back!

Journaling is not only a great way to reduce stress, but a way to exercise your brain and memory daily.

  • Write about your stressors
  • Make lists of what makes you happy
  • Talk about the highs and lows of the day
  • What are you looking forward to for the week

Talk it Through!

Stress can make it easy for us to isolate ourselves and get lost in thoughts. Don’t forget to connect with friends and family. Conversation can help us process our thoughts and emotions instead of bottled up inside.

Whether it’s getting together to hang out, a phone call to catch-up or just exchanging some texts of encouragement back and forth.

Enjoy these summer months, sunshine, and don’t let stress get the best of you. Try these tips to reduce stress and maximize enjoyment!
