Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching which means your window of opportunity is closing to plan or purchase something for the special someone in your life. Whether you forgot, you were busy, or you couldn’t think of anything, check out these last minute Valentine’s Day gift ideas.

1. Write “From Your Valentine”

Perhaps the easiest and most classic gift you can give is a card, either homemade or store bought. Take the card giving a step further by writing “From Your Valentine” on the bottom. After your loved one opens it, explain the story of how one of the several Christian saints named Valentinus was imprisoned for marrying couples against the orders of the emperor. Before Valentinus was executed on February 14, he wrote a hand written letter to his jailer’s daughter who he was in love with. At the bottom he signed “From Your Valentine.”

2. Have a picnic

Depending on where you live you could have a picnic outdoors with your loved one. If you live in the Midwest you may have to keep your picnic indoors. You can cook his or her favorite meal or grab a few of your favorite foods and lay them out on a blanket in your home. Add a few candles for ambiance and don’t forget the wine.

3. Send sweet greetings

Does your loved one have a sweet tooth? Put together a candy boutique for them, or if you think they would like to pick their candy send them an e-gift card to Sugar Wish. It’s a website which allows the person you’re getting the gift for to choose the candy they want and then Sugar Wish will send them the candy.

4. Subscribe to a favorite

If she loves the movies then get her a subscription to Netflix, or some movie theatre coupons. If he loves cheese, then get him a cheese of the month subscription. Ongoing gifts that are your loved one’s favorite can be a great way to show appreciation not only on Valentine’s Day, but for months to follow as well.

5. Deliver breakfast in bed

Besides giving a card, a classic gift is making breakfast in bed for your special someone. Whip up their favorite recipe before they wake up, bring it to them on a tray with a flower, and add a cup coffee or orange juice for the final touch. If you don’t like the potential of crumbs being in the bed, just have breakfast ready when your loved one wakes up.

6. Grow together

Surprise your loved one with a tree you can plant together. The tree will stand as a reminder of love’s permanence and how your love will grow over the course of the years. Depending on where you live, you could even plant a tree which produces flowers or fruit.

The greatest gift

No matter what you get your loved one this Valentine’s Day, remember the greatest gift you can give is love and let yourself be loved in return. A gift sure does help though!
